HI Ross , congratulations ! What sort of cherub is fuzzy logic?

ross_burkin

It's a one off desgin which is basically the lines of a 'Pasta Frenzy' with out the double chine and a couple of mm more rocker. Carbon foam boat with carbon spars, so a new boat not an old one like FS. 97 rules rig but there are a few issues which I'll explain tomorrow.

Fuzzy is a good boat with a little work.
Sounds like really good boat for you.
Are you going big rig?

Ok, so the boat came with the following:

Spars/foils:

C-tech mast,
Home made booms (nice and light),
home made rudder and stock (no pin though),
Aardvark daggerboard,
49er kite pole.

To get on the water I need to:

Get hold of a kite (old 800 kite or something),
Restring,
Get a rudder pin,
Get a couple of blocks.

If anyone can sell me a big kite give me a shout. Has anyone got stainless steel rod for rudder pins?

Fyfe main (97 rules)- Very skinny elliptical top, only used 4-5 times so it's in v-good condition apart from the top of the leach and the head of the sail has been eaten. This could be a blessing disguise as when I get it repaired can get a square top to get some more area up there.

Ross, its probably not worth trying to put a square head on the existing main as it will be a nightmare to get the shape right. Just get it repaired and use it as it is.

Ross we have the red loco kite if thats any use? I would have to talk to Dean but we don't use it.

I wouldn't expect a sailmaker will have a problem with altering the leach shape of a mainsail, especially as the top of the sail needs scrapping and replacing anyway.

Altering the leech shape can be done, when I worked at RMW we were always altering the heads of 14 sails, but tbh it can end up getting a little silly, and getting the sail work right can be a little more hit and miss - I always got the feeling with the 14s it was they wanted to look like they had the "right" sail rather than having an effective sail.

Remember if a sail has been made with that as the head all the chords down the sail are going to be set for that, if you start messing with the leech it can unbalance the sail.....

it can be done.....but it doesnt ness need to be done....

I think we have loads of rudder pin in the garage, but it's all Roland and Hayley'a, so you'd better ask them if you want any.

daryl_wilkinson

Please tell me Smiley hadn't left the base of a swivel deck mount on the rudder gantry pintel that I bodged on it?!

simon_jones

Ross I have spoken to Dean re kite , if you are interested let us know. £50 & it's yours

ross_burkin

Done. I'll talk to the Lee's about delivery to London.
