2017 Nationals this Weekend!

The Cherub Nationals 2017 are being held at Stone Sailing Club 19th - 22nd August, the cherubs return to the east coast a fondly regarded area for many cherub past and present cherub sailors, this event promises to drag a few boats out of storage and back onto the water for a weekend of sun sea and wind.

Last year’s national champion Paul Croote is returning to defend his title, and has shown good form in the build up to this year’s event. The other normal strong contenders within the 05-rule fleet have also been showing great form in the build-up events. Green bananas have been busy optimizing and the results from the open meetings show great improvements in terms of boat speed. Last year’s foiling duo A&E are back to prove a point, whether they will be joined by other foilers is still unknown.

The 97 rule boats have seen somewhat of a resurgence with several the boats resurfacing its anyone’s guess how many will be at the nationals, Madge the current champion not able to attend and her helm sailing Comfortably Numb who has come out of long term storage, previously active boats King Tubby and Squid have been out on the water and making modifications no doubt will show pace on numb.

There are a number of prizes up for grabs at this years nationals including trophies for positions in the two categories, and then further prises for classics, best looking, restoration, improver and many more.

The weather promises to be a typical British summer looking forward to seeing you all there.
