Weston Winter Series

On Saturday 18th November 2006 the Cherubs returned to Weston SC for the Winter series. We were the most numerous doublehander present, and the accepting atmosphere, excellent race management, suberb water and easy launching make this club real Cherub hotspot - quite apart from the proximity to Southampton Solent University!

The first race was a drifter in the bright winter sun. There was fetch from the club line to the post and then a beat to the furthest small green channel marker buoy “Moorhead” followed by a near run to the post 'boundary'. This provided lots of opportunities for misjudging the tide to get round the windward mark and again at the bottom, resulting in early drops and beating to the leeward mark for some! Atum Bom lead the way in all of the above, but somehow managed to finish in the lead - only to get no gun! So the Cherub bullet went to Shiny Beast.

The second race had a little more breeze and the flat water allowed those with T-foils to fully max it upwind. There was even some T foil use downwind. This was recorded by the safety boat driver and we'd like to see the footage! (If you are that person please will_lee us). Atum Bom came out on top followed by the unrealistically quick The Flying Kipper.

The next mass attendance is on the 2nd of december when we will have our own video kit - so be there!
