SailJuice Winter Series

The GJW Sailjuice Winter Series comprises of 6 events and takes place from November to February. Sadly as of posting there are no entries for Cherub sailors, but we'd be delighted to have some Cherub sailors competing in any or all of the events! There are various incentives, such as the oppurtunity to win some Gul Winter gear if you enter three or more events by the 20th of December. Also, if enough entries from a particular class compete, we can provide individual class results which would no doubt be great promotion for the class.

What PY are they sailing us off?

Last year it was 830 which was hardly going to encourage us to attend.

Last year we raced off 860 which may be achieveable on a large flat water course with lots of clear air. Oh and no capsizes.

It was quite gusty last year with lots of turbulent air some 2 sail reaches lots of boats which wanted to sail different angles to you at different speeds.  So you had too much wind at times and then not enough to twin wire a second later.  I wasn't good enough to sail the boat to the prescribed handicap in those conditions.

My best BM finish in the ent was a 6th.

Far too keen.  Our boat is in its winter position on top of the 200 in the garage.  Next outing planned is Chew.

Draycote very cold this morning 1 deg. 4 races with plenty of time in between to get nice and cold. 12 gusting 20 by the end of the day. Very difficult to get off the start with high pointing fireballs and merlins. Trapezoid courses with the top reach in the death zone. Currently 8th overall with the non discardable pursuit race tomorrow.

Forecast 20 knots gusting 41 for the morning.

Sunday dawned very wet and windy, the course set with lots and lots of 2 sail death zone reaching, decided that it was better to keep everything in one piece, so we packed up, only to see the wind drop to something manageable halfway through the race. We weren't the only ones though, Saturday's overall 1st (IC) and 2nd (Musto Skiff) gave it a miss as well.

Good event though, will try and do a few of the other sailjuice events if the weather is kind, what we really need is some other Cherub to race against. We where racing 505s  on the same handicap and beat them across the water in two races

And despite missing the pursuit race you were still mid fleet.  Well done.

If you do too well our handicaps are going to be scuppered for club racing
