We may be - but are restricted on dates to the expensive ones (school holidays) which others would wish to avoid.

Can I suggest the investigation looks at options a little further south than Torbole/Riva as winds of 25-30 knts are not uncommon here.  Malcesine for example.  Suggest everyone brings along a 'B' rig for maximum sailing pleasure.

We are off to Riva Del Garda in 3 weeks (just thought I would drop that in)

Having just got back from sailing the 18 in Torbole (Sorry andy, beats 200s ) it didn't live upto the 25 knots everyday legend, there were a couple of days like that, but others of 14-16 and a few of 18-20, this seems ideal for cherubs, i do not really see the point of going to Garda and then not sailing in the windy part

At the same event as Maf is discussing above, I was given the impression that the conditions we experienced were not the norm. Apparently the normal thermal pattern had been disturbed by the larger weather system bashing around over Europe. They said, once settled the 25kts afternoon southerly was reliable.

Down at Malchesnie (spelling?) I'm told the regular breeze hits 16-18kts. Which I think is far more cherub appropriate.

I think that Andy is not alone in requiring the event to be in school holidays.
I suspect that Eddie, Peter, Sam and Alex are all in the same boat.

From my visits to Garda in the past I think that anywhere would be great.
Riva may be a bit windy.
Torbole or Nago may be fantastic.
Any where else would be great. I do agree with Maf regarding going all that way and not sailing in the windy part.
If we are not bothered about being in the windy part we could go to Como or some of the other alpine lakes, but that would not be Garda.

We may not have much choice. All the clubs are very busy with regattas for premier classes.
I suspect that we have little chance unless we start talking to the clubs very soon and are lucky enough to find an open regatta that we can join in with or find another class that is happy for us to tag on with.

I see that the L4000 still seem to get to Riva each year. This year they only had 14 entries so may be a suitable class to tag onto. Unfortunately they were not in school holidays this year.

Would the 18s let us tag onto their event?

I would love to go, my only one experience there in 2000, gave a week of excellent sailing of winds 15 to 20 knots, one day at 25.
If this is going to happen organization will need to start sooner that later.
