Morning Guys,
Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and New year.
Just wondering if people could give a bit of info on weights; I'm trying to work out what's light + whats heavy on Banshee and could do with some benchmarks for the following:
Winged rudder: 3050g
Stock: 1140g
Pole: 2400g
Boom: 2680g
Mast: 5600g
Cboard: 3060g
Hull: ~48kg (without Pole and some other fittings)
Any info on how much your kit weighs would be ace!
Ta,
Robin
How did you get the measurement for the hull weight?
The measurement given at stone nationals was 60.5kg. (Or the better question is ‘what’s changed since stone?!)
When I find some time I’ll weigh some stuff for you.
Although I can tell you that poppies measured weight fittings weigh 3kg (that’s ropes and fittings excluding the backing plates, nuts and screws.)
Thank you!
I hung a luggage scale off a tree, and hung Banshee off that. Wouldn't be surprised if its a few kg inaccurate. That said, the pole I had at stone was about 6kg on its own - and the old front wingbars/little deck thing were pretty hefty before I gave them the chop. I've also got no ropes on the boat, so I expect my current "measured" weight is closer to ~56kg, maybe more.
It would also be fantastic if anyone could measure their jib sheeting position distance from centreline.

Exactly what I'm after, ta!
Winged rudder: 2900g
Stock: 1240
Pole: 1590 (with tack line)
Boom: 2000g (clas mandrel one, with a mainsheet and blocks)
Mast: tba. (Kitchen scales wouldn’t go that high)
Cboard: 2540 (Bloodaxe short board)
Hull: 49kg just with paint.
I’ll try and get the mast weighed when I do poppy this weekend (weather permitting) as I’ll have the class scaled tied up to the engine hoist to do so.
Toe nails = 1g
Always get your crew to cut them before an event
Mast weighed 8.33kg
Ctech mast with all the wires, all trapeze lines etc.
But there is a remarkable difference between that and shinys mast, yes; due to the stump the mast is about 500mm shorter, but I have to put a bit of effort in to lift Poppy’s mast.
The below include dust/grime/birds muck
Mango CB = 2.103kg
Aquamarine (Bloodaxe) CB = 2.165kg
Mango bowsprit = 1.046kg
Mango rider stock (pivoting, with rudder pivot bolt and stock pin) = 1.168kg
Mango rudder (no t-foil) = 1.406kg
Mango (with fittings excl. bowsprit) = 59.5kg!... 9kg of growth from when I sold her in ~2006.
I have had lighter and heavier bowsprits, have broken them all.
Lightest boom (tube) was ~900g. They got progressively heavier as I needed more strength. The last one was with Primal Scream at last whereabouts.
