...and the skiff chics are there, letting themselves in a bit gently (small rig in big rig wind)...which makes me realise how difficult those machines must be

They have a steep learning curve...they did beat 3 boats - DNF and 2 DNS...but an hour behind on elapsed is a lot :)
Have women raced 18s before? I'm sure somebody must have...

Here's a photo that begins to illustrate just how big the 18's really are. Here's our Cherub next to a UK based 18 at Carsington on Wednesday. The length of the no.1 mast is immense. I'd like to see her sailing!
